defining people

I read this opinion piece in Al Jazeera about the political motives of mass killers. We've mentioned several times in our discussions about who defines who is human. It's interesting that the author uses the word "banality" to describe the mass killings. I also thought it was interesting to think about who defines who as a terrorist. I think it's interesting to think about the recent mass killings as political. Although the author doesn't use the word "atomized" he is implying that these shooters are isolated  and atomized.
